THE GREATEST GIFT

Each one of us is special
No matter who we are
we may not stand out in a crowd
or be a famous star.

We may be young, we may be old,
We may be rich we may be poor
But we all have our niche in life
of that you may be sure.

Some are clever with there hands
Creating works of art,
others make sweet music
Which flows freely from the heart.

Perhaps some feel their usefulness
has hit the old brick wall,
But the quality to listen
Is the greatest gift of all

In Love's Arms

Dark clouds may fill the sky and blot out the sun
Together we have run the race, and it is already won
I left the darkness behind when you opened my heart
When Love took my hand, the darkness had to depart
I found my salvation in the gentleness of your touch
I never even dreamed I could love someone this much
As each new day dawns, I find myself loving you more
At long last I finally know what these lonely arms are for
The hold you have on my heart, has finally set me free
The reflection I see in your eyes, is all I ever want to be
Life is no longer a struggle, Love is no longer a fight
Your light has now brightened the darkness of night
Undeserving of your love but, thankful for this treasure
Overflowing sensuality, your love such sweet pleasure
Liquid desire, molten and warm, a touch, a sigh,
Passion, satisfaction sublime, in Love's arms, I lie

As One

By: Robin Stansbury

Look into my heart if you can find a way
To breach the broken pieces, you can try
To touch the part that remains alive today
And maybe then the broken part won't die
Because you alone have the special touch
To save me from the horrors of my past
And wipe away the part that hurt so much
Show my skeptical heart that they won't last
When I am safe within the haven that is you
Maybe then the past will, at long last, fade,
And Time will deepen this love that is true,
And strengthen this bond that we've made.
When winds of change blow through our life
And hard times happen like they always do
Our love will weather the storm and strife
This love will go on when our life is through
The breeze that blows will tell this lover's tale
As star strewn night is the carpet for our feet
And fiery sunset will, beside this beauty, pale
And angels in heaven will come out to greet
Two who loved across bounds of time and space
And walked in through heaven's door as one
Together is how they won this mortal race
And rest together now for all eternity, as one

MY PLEA!

Beware Bin Laden and the Taliban,
for you are to us, the ultimate con!
We will fight for the world, with 'Enduring Freedom',
for attacking AMERICA, to its beloved foundation!
Bless our brave troops, from here and to there.
You have our deep love, respect and due care.
Keep us secure at home and abroad,
from all that is evil and considered a fraud!
Sustain us our faith and fulfill us our strength,
to face each new day, through the long battle's length!
May our leaders be guided in difficult decisions,
with GOD'S GRACE and MERCY, to quicken our mission!
GOD BLESS, GOD SPEED, GOD LOVES!

Careless Hearts

By: Robin Stansbury

Careless heart! You know not what you do!
To open wide and chance to Love again.

Careless heart! The tales you tell are true.
Never go back to where you've already been!

Careless heart! Recall the thorns of Love
That, once blood's been drawn, obscure the pleasure

Careless heart! See the moon and stars above?
Remember when traitor Love was yet a treasure?

Careless heart! Recall a time before Love burned out
And wounded soul cried for the sweetness of your touch?

Careless heart! Remember well bitter seeds of doubt
that tainted love and made you hurt too much.

And shattered dream castles built of only dust
That, untended, crumbled into ruin and turned to rust,

And lay forgotten by all, save me, a ravaged heart,
Leaving naught, but dead dreams, afraid to make a new start.

Father's Day

By: Robin Stansbury

Hello, Daddy.
Today is father's day.
I came here to see you
I can't really find the words to say
To show you my love is still true
I try hard to say hello and smile
It really is such a beautiful day
I'll just sit here with you a while
Before I fly away.
Daddy, I've lost all my dreams now
I can't find them anywhere
I wish you could show me how
This loneliness to bear
I'll just leave these flowers with you
I'll put them there with all the rest
Without you, I'll never know what to do
In my heart you'll always be the best

Empty Promises

By: Robin Stansbury

All the empty promises in my world
lay in disarray before me all unfurled

And I wonder

You promised love forever
Would your love die? Never!

And I wonder

You swore you’d never leave me
Yet, you’re nowhere, for me to see

And I wonder

Are there anywhere promises yet unbroken?
Should I ever believe any words spoken?

And I wonder

I close my eyes and pray for sleep to take me away
I can’t stand anymore broken promises today

Empty

By: Robin Stansbury

The boxes are packed up, the fridge is cleaned out.
The clothes are all sacked up, and now there's no doubt.
She's left it behind and won't be returning,
You can take what you find, the rest is for burning.

No traces are left here to linger.
Save the scent of perfume
or the tiny, small, print of a finger.
She just isn't here in this room.

But out by the stoop, kicked under a chair,
I see two old shoes, that she used to wear.
They're old and worn out--used to garden or clean.
Without any doubt, they've been forgotten, it seems.

Just two worn out old shoes and the smell of perfume,
Remind me that someone I loved once lived in this room.
Alone, empty, and silent, they sit by the door
And wait for her feet to come cross that floor,
And step into shoes, she'll never more wear.
Just two worn out old shoes,
It doesn't seem fair.

Longing for EBB's Kind of Love

By: Robin Stansbury

Does my heart know you,
or are you a stranger?
Will your love be true,
or are you a danger?
In my lonely world
Your smile shines bright,
is it a star or the sun?
Will it warm me just right,
or burn when days done?
In my solitary world
Love me or leave me,
but don't lead me on
Or leave me with aught
but dead dreams
when you're done
In life's boneyard
Love me for Love's
sake not for my figure or face
Lest days break finds me here
with tears left to trace
Where life is too hard
Build our love on a solid foundation of commitment
Or end it today without harsh resentment
And leave me to dream
That somewhere in time,
sweet cupid lives still
That love and forever,
the dream now fulfill And
love doesn't always end like it seems
